Munich City Run
The Munich City Run is an annual 10K or half-marathon footrace
through Munich's city centre.
2 - 3 July 2004
Classical Music at the Odeonsplatz
Great open air concert at one of Munich's most impressive squares.
In 2003 almost 16.000 people attended the concerts.
24 July 2004
Christopher Street Day
Gays and lesbians celebrate gay pride with a large parade and a
street festival.
24 July - 01 August 2004
Jacobidult
Traditional market and fair at Mariahilfplatz, the second "Auer
Dult" of the year.
29 July - 01 August 2004
Euro Games
5,000 gay and lesbian sportspeople from all over Europe gather
in Munich for competitions in the Munich Olympiastadion.
30 July to 5 August 2004
Königsplatz Cinema Open Air
Film classics as well as the best films of the year shown at a
wonderful location.
August to November 2004
Henri Toulouse-Lautrec: Paris Life
An exhibition honouring the work of the French artist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec
at the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung.
5 August - 22 August 2004
Summer Festival
Local bands (rock, jazz, classical music) perform at the amphitheatre
near the Olympic Park's lake. Admission is free!
20 August - 5 September 2004
The 6th Festival in the Park Lilalu & Umsonst & Draußen
The Festival invites children and adults to an exciting cultural
programme with circus shows, open-air concerts, cinema, readings
and performances plus all kinds of fun and games. At the Olympic
Park
31 August - 17 September 2004
53rd ARD International Music Competition
Young musicians from throughout the world compete in annually changing
categories. Four competitors are chosen for the finals. Takes
place at various venues.
18 September - 03 October 2004
Oktoberfest
The world's largest beer festival celebrating the wedding of King
Ludwig I on 12 October 1810 - held mainly in September because
of better weather conditions.
Autumn 2004
Mythos Bayern
The exhibition is about the "Bavarian Myth", the evolution
of Bavarian traditions and stereotypes. It is held at Münchner
Stadtmuseum (Munich City Museum).
October to December
Utopia Station
Exhibition at the Haus der Kunst in cooperation with museums in
Vienna, Venice and Barcelona. Among others: posters by international
artists on the theme "Utopia".
10 October 2004
The 5th Munich Media Marathon
A city run supported by the Munich media. Start at 10am, race ends
at Olympic stadium.
16 October - 24 October 2004
Kirchweihdult
Your last chance to visit the "Auer Dult" this year.
Enjoy strolling across the market and having a pretzel!
21 October 2004 - 03 April 2005
The World of Byzantium - Europe's Eastern legacy
The exhibition with several hundreds of exhibits comprises not
only large objects such as relief plates, marble sarcophagi and
mosaic floors but also numerous items from religious and everyday
life such as, for example, jewellery and fabrics.

Christmas Market
The ideal place for last minute Christmas shopping or a cup of
mulled wine: the Christmas Market on Marienplatz, right in the
city centre.
28 November - 31 December 2004
Tollwood Winter Festival
Munich's alternative Christmas market. Shows, arts and crafts and
a wide range of ethnical food offered on the Theresienwiese.
